About Dr. Peters
Dr. Walter Peters specializes in breast enhancement surgery, facial cosmetic surgery and liposuction.

Breast enhancement surgery includes: breast augmentation with cohesive gel implants and breast lifting (mastopexy).

Facial cosmetic surgery includes: facelift, eyelids (blepharoplasty), and liposuction.

Dr. Walter Peters received his MD degree with Honors, and his Plastic Surgery Fellowship (FRCSC), both from the University of Toronto. He received his PhD degree from the University of British Columbia. Subsequently, he was awarded a McLaughlin Traveling Fellowship for further training in Boston.

Dr. Peters has had a Plastic Surgery practice in Toronto for over 20 years. He is currently on staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and St. Michael’s Hospital. However, his surgery is now done in his own surgical facility - The Rosedale Centre for Plastic Surgery, at Bloor and Sherbourne, in Toronto. Dr. Peters opened this facility in 2001. Canadian plastic surgeons are not permitted to operate on patients from the United States, unless they are Canadian citizens.

For 15 years, from 1984 to 2000, Dr. Peters was the Director of the University of Toronto's Adult Regional Burn Centre, at the Wellesley Hospital, where he coordinated the treatment of over 2,000 patients with major burns. The University of Toronto has recently named the Annual Walter Peters Burn Symposium Lecture in his honor. From 1984-2000, he was also the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Wellesley Hospital.

During this time, he was also the Course Director of the largest aesthetic plastic surgery symposium in Canada – the University of Toronto Annual Symposium for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Peters has been awarded over $5 million in research funding. He has published over 160 papers and book chapters, and has presented papers at over 300 national and international meetings.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Peters has been the Coordinator of an international research study involving 3,000 women who have received silicone gel breast implants. In Washington, D.C., he is a consultant/advisor to the FDA, the National Academy of Science, the National Cancer Institute, the Institute of Medicine Study on the Safety of Breast Implants, and the FDA Public Health Project. He is also a member of Health Canada's Expert Panel on Breast Implants, Health Canada's Scientific Advisory Board, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Task Force.

In 2017, Dr. Peters has been invited to give the Keynote Address at the 50th Anniversary of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery meeting in San Diego, on the subject of "Breast Augmentation".
